It takes more than a train and aeroplane
When it’s time to go on holiday, we feel excited and happy. Often, our baggage is full of clothes we never wear, along with accessories that will “surely” help us enjoy the journey. The checklist is long and tricky, but none of these things will guarantee the enjoyment of our vacation. We need to level up our concepts and set our minds for Emotional Travelling.
What is Emotional Travelling?
Said in a sentence: Do not forget to take your soul! Between the hustle of seeing everything or the mixed feelings when we get disappointed, that is not everything like on social media. This is even more important when we visit unconventional places, less developed countries, or just different. Even if you are not going to like everything, make the effort worth it, and what you will become will be your souvenir!
How to do it?
Engage Your Senses: Take a breath and take some time to see your surroundings. Different colours, different people, new flavours, and sounds. The organic multisensorial experience will introduce you to different ways to live, enjoy life, and feel.
Slow Down: Resist the urge to rush through your travel checklist. Take your time to savour meals, linger at beautiful viewpoints, and fully engage in activities. Slowing down helps you notice the details that make each moment unique.
Be Present with People: Reach out, listen attentively, engage in meaningful conversations, and cherish the connections you make on the way. Ask for information and insights, be curious!
Dwell on differences without judging: When encountering different cultures, customs, or ways of life, observe and appreciate these differences without immediate judgment. Understanding and valuing diversity can deepen your travel experience and foster empathy. Reflect on how these differences broaden your perspective and enrich your journey.
If you come to Albania
When you visit Albania, you will be surprised. It is not as the media has portrayed this country for so many years, yet not everything is picture-perfect either. It can be even better than you think if you keep an open mind and open your heart. Likewise, it can be a great experience if you follow the flow of the locals’ ways, trying new dances and foods. Visiting some historical sites and museums will give you hints about the history and challenges this country has faced.
This applies to everyone
Incorporating mindfulness into your travels can transform your journey into a rich tapestry of experiences and personal growth. By being present, engaging your senses, and embracing each moment with intention, you can create a deeper connection with the world around you and within yourself. So, the next time you plan a vacation, consider Emotional Travelling and embark on a journey that nourishes your body and soul.
And remember, do not forget to put your heart in your baggage!
